Dear Smokers,

I tip my hat to you.  I know it's difficult  being you, and I know the kind of crap you have to deal with on a daily basis.  You have found something that you do that makes you happy, and I think that's great.

You have to put up with a world telling you you shouldn't be happy, telling you you're a bad person, telling you you have no right, telling you that you're a lesser member of society.  You brave sub-0 temperatures, you brave the glares, the coughs of people around you.  You handle the smell, the teeth, you risk your health, all in the pursuit of happiness.

They say you're stupid.  They say it's not worth the money.  They say you're throwing your life away.  They say stop.  I say bravo.  I say continue.  I say you are brave champions of love.

When you find something that you love - when anyone finds something that they love - you must grab hold of it, and never let go.  When you have something that makes you happy, be happy.  You have every right.  You have just as much of a right as the rest of us.

So smokers, don't give up.  Don't crumble under the pressure.  Continue to be yourselves, because that's good enough for me.  Don't stop smoking just because they tell you to.  Continue to be brave, and don't die - because then they win.

Sincerely yours,

Andrew
