The following is my thought progression caused by an educational video on powder metallurgy.
The DVD player we’re using in class displays ‘still’ when you pause it. Why not display ‘pause’? Does some company own the rights to ‘pause’? If so, I’m surprised that so many players pay those royalties.
The video just said: “heat treating is used to modify a part’s properties”
Might it be possible to change a person’s properties through heat treatment? Could we fix criminals by turning up the heat in prisons? Maybe we put racists and homophobes in a sauna for a little while and they could become functioning members of society ...
Who said global warming is a bad things? Perhaps if the globe becomes warm enough, we could fix everyone! We could eliminate hate/war/intolerance by simply maintaining our dependence on oil. It’s easy, and fun!
These are the sort of things that our top minds should be thinking about, but aren’t. The reason for that (the problem here) is specialization. We have scientists studying global warming, engineers studying heat treatments, and social workers studying people. What we need more people making connections between these different research areas. I can’t do it all.

I just came across this:
Now, at first glance, this doesn’t seem out of the ordinary, and even once reading the full thing, you go: “ya ... well, free speech is important”. But I did a little bit of research and found out what ‘The Matthew Shepard Act’ is - an amendment to the american hate-crime laws to include crimes motivated by a victim's actual or perceived gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability. So when these people say “the Black community needs a free pulpit”, they’re saying: “the Black community needs to be able to speak out against the gays”. I love the line "misguided compassion". Check this out as well:
Can you believe that a group of people who were victims of hate/intolerance/ridiculousness for so long would take that, and turn it back on another group? Shocking.
The movie just said: “flexible pre-shaped elastomeric mould, also called - a ‘bag’”. I think that’s hilarious! It’s a good thing they came up with the name ‘bag’, because if you had to constantly say ‘flexible pre-shaped elastomeric mould’, it would be exhausting. It’s also funny that they had to define it in the film.
One final thing, I made the graph of what happens after you finish your cup of coffee. It is tacked on to the end of the graph from a little while ago which outlined how each sip of coffee effects your happiness.

Keep in mind that the '0' level could be very happy, and the flip side of that is that an increase of 3 could still be horribly depressed. This is only depicting how your happiness changes, now how happy you are.
